Happy Hammocks Inaugural Movie Night

Hello, neighbors! We live at 357 Whispering Breeze, and we have been working on a project to bring a summer movie night series to our neighborhood for kids and adults.  We have posted in the Hammock’s Facebook page, and because we know not everyone has joined there we created this website as a central point to coordinate community events.

We are currently planning to host, with your help, an inaugural movie night the evening of May 28th–the evening before Memorial Day.  We have been developing the ground work for this event over the last couple of weeks, and we decided that we were ready to move on to scheduling.  We know that not everyone will be available during Memorial weekend, but we wanted to go ahead and kick things off for the summer.

I will be posting more tonight and tomorrow, but here’s a summary of what we have and need from our Facebook post:

What we have:

Movie Area
– Projector
– Sound System
– 135” outdoor projector screen
– String lights and lawn lights–to light the way and designate the space.

Adult Area
– 1 10×10 canopy
– 4 folding tables and 8 metal folding chairs
– Sound system for entertainment
– Ability to provide for SOME beer and margaritas

What we need:
– Man power! This will take a little time from a few of us to pull off a successful evening
– Snacks for the kids and adults
– If someone would like to volunteer to grill some burgers and hot dogs for the kids and adults, that would be awesome.
– Donations for above food and/or beverages–can make a big box club run before hand (BJ’s, Sams, Costco)
– Two additional 10×10, or larger canopies. One for the adult area, and one for over near the movie area for the kid’s refreshments.

Thanks for reading, and we are extremely excited to make this a successful event for our community!

  1. This is awesome- thank you so much for doing this. We will be out of town that weekend but returning sometime on the 28th and are looking forward to this event. We will be hurrying home! We would love to help, not sure how much man power we can volunteer, but would be willing to make a donation towards a snack/food run!

    1. Hey there Michael,

If you guys aren’t able to come for this event, we are planning on having them at least every month through the summer. Thanks for the offer for resources! I have filed the paperwork for a non-profit organization for community events so that our neighbors can make tax-deductible donations. For this first event, I will provide a post-dated receipt for any donation that you may make so you can take advantage of that once it’s completely established.

We hope you can make it!
